Saturday, January 24, 1-3 pm: Nuestras Raíces: Our Stories (at West Branch Berkeley Public Library)

Nuestras Raíces: Our Stories is an interactive community gathering hosted at the West Berkeley library branch in partnership with the Berkeley Historical Society & Museum (BHSM). The event invites Latino elders, families, and community members who live and work in Berkeley and surrounding communities to share family stories that have shaped their lives and contributions to the region.

Organized by long-standing members of Berkeley’s Latino community—the curators of the Latinos in Berkeley exhibit at the Veterans Memorial Building—the event centers lived experience, memory, and intergenerational knowledge as vital forms of history.

With participants’ consent, stories shared during the event may be audio recorded for historical and research purposes. While the gathering centers Latino histories and experiences, all are welcome to attend, listen, and participate.

Note location: West Branch Library, 1125 University Ave.

Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.
