Simone Elias, a Berkeley teen, will speak about her newly published 194-page book, Old Films, Young Eyes: A Teenage Take on Hollywood’s Golden Age, at 2:00 pm, followed by Susan Austin speaking about The Bamboo Garden, a novel about a friendship between a Japanese American girl and a white girl in 1923 Berkeley, and her more recent book, also for young readers, Drawing Outside the Lines: A Julia Morgan Novel.
Books on Berkeley history will be for sale at discounted prices all afternoon. The exhibit on Japanese Americans in Berkeley will also be open.
