- Feb. 3: Berkeley’s “Carbon Neutral by 2045” Plan
Join us in person at the Berkeley Historical Society museum on Friday, February 3, from 4:00 to 5:30 pm to hear how the City of Berkeley’s historic plan is doable–including subsidies and technologies which will allow you to be part of the solution. Councilmember Kate Harrison and the Ecology Center’s Denaya Shorter will give short presentations, followed by Q & A and refreshments.
- Dec. 10: Holiday Open House and Book Sale
During our regular hours on Saturday, December 10, from 1 to 4 pm, we will be serving hot cider and cookies and offering our panoply of books related to Berkeley history at a 20% discount. Four authors will be present from 1:30 to 3:30 to sign books: Susan Austin, Kenneth Brower, Linda Rosen and Charles Wollenberg. Books make good gifts!
- Nov. 26: Maps and Creeks
• See this 1964 map of a proposed development of the Berkeley Marina area and other historic maps from our archives
• Chat with Susan Schwartz of Friends of Five Creeks, John Steere of Berkeley Partners for Parks, and other Berkeley environmental activists
• View the exhibit, Eco-Berkeley: A Legacy of Environmental Activism
• Stay for some light refreshments, 4-4:30 pm
The museum will open at 1 pm. This could be an opportunity to take guests who are in town for Thanksgiving weekend someplace interesting. (The History Center will be closed Nov. 24 and 25.)
