*** Online Only Event ***

RSVP to info@berkhistory.org for the Zoom link

Over 120 years ago, three courageous Chinese women from San Francisco’s Chinese Mission Homes defied expectations and reached for the stars. Their inspiring stories — which weave through the communities of Oakland and Berkeley — come to life in this captivating multimedia presentation.

Through rare historic photographs and vivid illustrations of San Francisco and Oakland Chinatowns from the 1890s and early 1900s, set to music and narrated by the author, audiences will be transported back in time to witness their extraordinary journeys.

Discover the young woman who graduated top of her class at Berkeley High School in 1912 before enrolling at UC Berkeley; the pioneering dentist who became the first Chinese woman to practice in Oakland; and Tye Leung, a trailblazer for human and women’s rights with deep ties to Berkeley.

Together, their stories illuminate the courage, resilience, and vision of three women who broke barriers and paved the way for future generations in health care, education, and social justice.
