Veterans Memorial Building, 1931 Center Street

The Berkeley Historical Society & Museum is located in Berkeley, CA in the Veterans Memorial Building, 1931 Center Street—about halfway between Milvia and Martin Luther King Jr Way, 1-1/2 blocks west of the Downtown Berkeley BART station and across Civic Center Park from Berkeley High School. Several AC Transit bus lines serve the downtown Berkeley area.

Hours: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 1-4

The History Center is generally open to the public, admission free (donations welcome), during the above hours. But if it’s a holiday weekend or between exhibits, please call 510-848-0181 to check.

Parking

There is paid parking in front of the Veterans Memorial Building (unavailable on Saturdays due to the Farmers’ Market). Street parking west of Martin Luther King Jr. Way is free, with a two-hour limit on weekdays for non-residents. There is a city parking garage one block east on Center Street.

Accessibility

The Center is wheelchair accessible(If you arrive by wheelchair, please phone us at 510-848-0181 so we can open the door at the top of the ramp.)
