Join John Steere, president of Berkeley Partners for Parks, and Elizabeth Dougherty and Chris James, coordinator and tour guides with Wholly H2O, in a stroll, beginning in Aquatic Park (Elizabeth Dougherty & Chris James) and ending at the mouth of Schoolhouse Creek, after going through the Berkeley Meadows of the McLaughlin Eastshore State Park (John Steere).
We will pass through the recently dedicated Brickyard Cove and the remarkable “restoration area” that re-creates the habitats of West Berkeley before settlement, while learning about the ecology and history of Berkeley’s shoreline and the decades-long fight to protect it from development and create a new kind of park.
About 1.9 mile round trip, mostly flat.
