Saturday, May 9: Albany—A Small City with a Big Past, walking tour led by Karen Sorensen (SORRY, SOLD OUT)

Picture of an old train

Come walk and learn about the city of Albany. Berkeley’s neighbor has a rich history, from its interesting incorporation story to old train systems, the Albany
Theater, and University Village (which was war housing during WWII). We’ll also discuss local architecture, some of which overlaps with Berkeley. Local historian and author Karen Sorensen will share information from her two Albany history books, along with vintage photos, while walking the streets of the city.

The walk will be approximately two miles—mostly on flat city streets. Walking on sidewalks, we will wind through neighborhoods and cross some busy, large boulevards (at crosswalks). There will be a slight incline as we go up Solano Ave.
