Join marine biologist David McGuire, director of the non-profit Shark Stewards, on a walking tour around Berkeley’s Aquatic Park. Learn about the history of this urban waterway, human use, and the wildlife of the park. During this walk you will learn about the water monitoring and mitigation measures the Aquatic Park Stewards have been undertaking with UC Berkeley students, City of Berkeley Parks, Recreation & Waterfront, and other partners.
Enjoy seasonal migratory birds visiting as part of the great North American Flyway, nesting double-crested cormorants, and the largest heron nursery site in the Bay Area. If we get lucky we might see a bat ray or even a leopard shark who use the lagoon to forage and pup.
This walk is about 2.5 miles over a little rough terrain but accessible and flat.
Sign up for one or more walking tours online here (members only until August 26), or print and mail this form with a check, postmarked by August 31.
